Rules for the FSL Season Mode

1. League Format

1.1 Season mode is played in a round robin format, which means that every player has to face every other player once during the season. The players get newly paired every week and have the ongoing week to arrange their matches. At the end of the season the top 5 ranked players of Athena League will get an invitation to the season playoffs. The bottom 3 of Athena- and the top 3 of Bellona League will then play a qualification round to determine who of them will receive the remaining three playoff spots.

1.2 Players may not switch the race they are playing once the season has offcially started.

1.3 If, at the end of the season, two players are completely tied at rank 5 (Athena) or 3 (Bellona) (i.e. same difference in won/lost matches and won/lost games) the player who won the direct season match between the two will advance to the playoffs/decider's match.

1.4 Every season mode match is played as a BO5. The mappool the players can choose from is always the current ladder map pool.

1.5 All the matches will be usually cast from replays every Tuesday & Wednesday at 20:00 CEST in English and French.

2. Procedure

2.1 Players are free to arrange their BO5s with each other on any preferred day during the ongoing match week. Make sure to contact your opponent as soon as possible in order to find the best possible time for both players.

2.2 If the players are from different regions, the server they have to play on is determined by the following rules:
  • EU vs NA = EU
  • EU vs KR = NA
  • NA vs KR = NA
2.3 Every player may now veto one map; the player with the higher MMR vetoes first. Afterwards the player with the lower MMR picks the first map. After the first map the player who has lost chooses the next map to play on. It is always the MMR of the player's dedicated main account that counts.

2.4 Please use the WCS Gameheart Mod for your games and set the privacy settings for each game to No Match History.

2.5 The winner of the BO5 sends the replays of all the individual maps played and the results to the admin via e-mail to fslsc2@gmx.de. Please rename your replay package using the following formula:
  • FSL - League - Week (number) - (player1) vs (player2)
and rename every single replay so the order in which the games were played is recognizable.

2.6 For obvious reasons players are not allowed to stream their FSL matches or make the result of their match public in any way before the games have been broadcast by the FSL.

3. Missing or forfeiting games / Penalties

3.1 If, for whatever reason, a match cannot be arranged, players have the chance to play their BO5 live on the day of the broadcast. If, on that day, only one player shows up, ready to play, she will automatically receive a 3:0 walkover victory over her opponent of that particular week. If both players should not show up, both players will automatically receive 0:3 losses. If one player freely admits that it was her fault that the match could not be played, her opponent will receive a 3:0 walkover victory.

3.2 Whenever a player does not show up to play her BO5 she will receive a penalty point. Having accumulated 3 or more penalty points will automatically result in that player's exclusion from a possible participation in the season playoffs. Having accumulated 5 or more penalty points will automatically result in an exclusion from further participation in the FSL season mode for the ongoing season. Every opponent of said player - past, present or future - will receive a 3:0 walkover victory over her. The player herself will become an off-season player and has the chance to re-join season mode next season.

3.3 Forfeiting matches is not allowed. A player forfeiting her match is treated the same way as if she had not shown up to play her BO5. All the rules under 3.2 apply.

3.4 Under certain circumstances (e.g. holidays, emergencies, etc.) players may play their respective match of a certain week in advance. In order to do so, they have to first contact the admin and explain the situation. If the admin agrees, the player may then contact her opponent of the respective week and arrange to play the BO5 (follow the rules under 2). Matches may never be played after the respective week has ended - only in advance. If, for whatever reason, the player cannot manage to pre-arrange her match, the BO5 is treated as if she had not shown up to play. All rules under 3.2 apply.

3.5 If a player does not show up to play or deliberately forfeits her match in the playoffs she will automatically be disqualified. She will neither receive any achievements nor prize money. Her opponent will receive a 3:0 victory. If the forfeited game was a RO8 match, the next player in order of the season ranking who shows up to play will receive her spot instead.

4. Miscellaneous

4.1 Account sharing (i.e. a player letting another person play any of her FSL matches) and cheating (e.g. map-hacking) are prohibited. Any player being involved in such an act will get immediately excluded from the FSL for life.

4.2 Bad manner (e.g. manner mules, preemptive gg, dancing units, aso.) is unmansportsmanlike and thus unwanted behaviour. Strong and/or repeated bad manner may result in a penalty point or even disqualification for the player performing it. If a behaviour qualifies as punishable bad manner is always to be decided by the admin from case to case.

Tournament Rules

1. General

1.1 Tournament rules can vary from tournament to tournament depending on the type and mode of the event. Special tournament rules always supersede general rules.

1.2 Every registered member of the FSL may compete in a tournament. Look for the special rules section of a tournament to learn about special requirements in order to participate. If you want to sign up for a tournament, just tell the admin in the FSL Discord chat.

1.3 Skill-Cups are tournaments in which only players of the respective SC2 rank (or below) can compete. In order to participate in such a cup players must be currently ranked in the respective league (or below) and must not have been ranked in a higher league for at least the last three seasons (incl. the ongoing one).

2. Procedure

2.1 Tournaments are usually hosted on the EU servers. Players must join the FSL Battle.Net chat at the start of the tournament. Players that have not shown up 10 minutes after tournament begin automatically get disqualified.

2.2 Players veto maps in turns until a number of maps remains that is needed in order to play a full Best of X (e.g. three maps for a BO3). The player with the higher MMR vetoes first. Afterwards the player with the lower MMR picks the first map. After the first map the player who has lost chooses the next map to play on. It is always the MMR of the player's dedicated main account that counts.

2.3 The player who picked the map now invites her opponent plus any casters covering the tournament. Please use the WCS Gameheart Mod when creating the lobby. Make sure casters are only observers, not referees.

2.4 Players are not allowed to stream their FSL tournament matches unless their match isn't covered by one of the main streams.

3. Miscellaneous

3.1 Account sharing (i.e. a player letting another person play any of her FSL matches) and cheating (e.g. map-hacking) are prohibited. Any player being involved in such an act will get immediately excluded from the FSL for life.

3.2 Bad manner (e.g. manner mules, preemptive gg, dancing units, aso.) is unmansportsmanlike and thus unwanted behaviour. Strong and/or repeated bad manner may result in a def-loss or even disqualification for the player performing it. If a behaviour qualifies as punishable bad manner is always to be decided by the admin from case to case.

Join as Caster

1. General

1.1 You must be a legal adult following your country's laws for adulthood.

1.2 Make sure you apply for a casting position in a language that is not already covered by other casters.

1.3 Be sure that you can cover most of the weekly Season days of the current season. It is of course okay and only human to miss some dates, but it is self-explanatory that, in order to have a healthy casting partnership, reliability is an important factor.

1.4 FSL Season Mode usually gets cast from replays that the admin sends you on Tuesdays. Other FSL events usually get cast live.

1.5 Casters are absolutely not allowed to stream FSL events ahead of time of the English main cast. Make sure to follow the order in which games are supposed to get casted that the admin assigns to you. You may cast games at any time afterwards if your schedule doesn't allow you to cast at the same time of the English main cast.

2. Casting Rules

2.1 Your cast should be respectful to all the players. That does not mean that you cannot criticize their gameplay or point out mistakes that are deciding for the course of the match, but make sure your overall language is well-mannered, keeps vulgarities to a minimum and refrains from any misogynistic obscenities.

2.2 Make sure to have strong moderation in your chat. The FSL's main goal is to build a healthy, welcoming female Starcraft community and demount prejudices and gender directed negativity. Chats that get spammed with misogynistic profanity by trolls are not helping. It should not be necessary to keep trolls in chat in check - unfortunately it is!

2.3 Please appoint at least one player that speaks your casting language from the FSL Season roster as a moderator to your channel during FSL casts.

2.4 When casting an FSL event, you must implement the official FSL logo and all of the sponsors' logos into all of your stream overlays used during your cast.

2.5 When casting an FSL event, make sure to have commands in your chat that give viewers the chance to get a link towards the FSL website. More links (e.g. to the Season Play and/or Sponsors page) are also appreciated.

2.6 Make sure to have thoroughly studied the FSL Rulebook, especially the part containing the rules for Season Mode.

2.7 FSL events must be streamed on Twitch, Afreeca or Hitbox.

2.8 If you want to help advertising the FSL and make it grow, it would be very kind of you to put a link towards the FSL webpage up on your Twitch profile, using the FSL logo.

3. Miscellaneous

3.1 Before becoming a regular caster of the FSL a few test casts are obligatory.

3.2 The right to cast FSL events may be revoked at any time if one or more of the mandatory rules above seem to have not being taking care of in an adequate way.

If you would like to cast the FSL you can either use the contact form found on the contact page or send an e-mail directly to fslsc2@gmx.de
